Does this sound familiar?
You look in the mirror and notice something new. Maybe it’s fine lines, or a sun spot that wasn’t there before. So you go to the store and buy a product that promises to help. Before you know it, you have three or four products (maybe more), each one promising to treat a different concern.
But your skin isn’t looking better. In fact, it’s looking worse. It’s dry and flaky, it feels tight, and it’s lost its glow.
What’s happening?
It’s called active overload. “Active” is the word used for an ingredient that targets a specific skin concern, like retinol, exfoliating acids or vitamin C. The thing is, too many actives at once can easily overwhelm your skin. They strip your barrier and make your skin more sensitive, so it looks and feels worse instead of better.
The key is to limit your actives, combine them wisely and cycle them in and out in a way that strengthens and supports your skin.
